2026 FLORIDA HOMETOWN HEROES
This program provides down payment and closing cost assistance to first-time, income-qualified homebuyers so they can purchase a primary residence in the community in which they work and serve.
To further assist ‘HTH’, Hometown Hero, eligible borrowers, Florida Housing added $7MM in additional funding received from HTH loan repayment. To track funding availability and program interest rates, please contact your dedicated Florida Loan Officer.
Notable Updates:
- 5% Of the TOTAL Loan Amount capped at $35,000, with a minimum of $10,000 in downpayment and closing cost assistance.
For example, borrowers with a loan amount of $200,000 or less would receive an automatic $10,000. -
One occupying borrower must be employed in an eligible occupation.

Only one borrower is required to meet this eligibility (excluding non-occupying co-signors).
· Active-Duty Military must provide a current Leave
and Earnings Statement (LES).
· Co-signors do not fulfill this requirement.
· Veterans must also meet the occupational requirement and are not exempt. -

This is not a commitment to lend or an offer for a rate lock agreement; a pre-qualification is based on a preliminary review of information provided and limited credit information. All home financing transactions are subject to verification of application information, satisfying all underwriting conditions and requirements, and property eligibility, including appraisal and title report. You must carry insurance on the property that secures the transaction, and flood insurance may be required. Any taxes or additional conditions imposed by the city, county or state that the subject property is located in will be the borrower’s responsibility.
